Sports moments that made a difference.I was raised to believe that sporting events were for enjoyment. We watched or went to an event for enjoyment not much else. I had no one around that was in love with their team or had any real interest in following a sport, so my love for sports is completely self motivated. There have been a few sporting events that made an impact on my life. The one i will use here is oneof those moments. When AL Michaels began to countdown the seconds on the clock during the 1980 Olympic hockey match between the USA team and the USSR team , "...Eleven seconds, you've got ten seconds, the countdown going on right now! Morrow, up to Silk...five seconds left in the game...Do you believe in miracles? YES!!! Unbelievable!!!" I felt the ripple through my whole body. Pride overwhelmed me and I personally had nothing to do with what I was hearing. I was proud to be an American and for the first time in my life, KNEW what that meant. There would be many sports moments in my life but this is one that transcended sports and brought a country to its feet. Standing and cheering for AMerica not just a sport.
